Investors with an aggregate capital of 200 million birr are engaged in agro-investment projects in Metema Woreda, North Gondar Zone of Amhara State.
Environmental protection and land administration office head Girma Awoke said some 544 investors are developing various crops including sesame, cotton, sorghum and maize on 28,516 hectares of land.
Currently the investment projects created job for 4,420 people and would also create up to 38,000 people temporality basis during harvest, he said.
The head said the investment activities would help the local farmers to acquaint with modern agricultural technologies and inputs.
He said government is offering various incentives to encourage investors. The office is following and controlling the investment activities whether they are environment friendly or not, he said.
